UNDERWATER SURF TRAINING SESSIONS
SO…YOU WANT TO SPEND MORE TIME UNDERWATER ?
Looking to improve your performance in the water? Interested in becoming a mermaid or perhaps, merman!?!
These workouts are designed specifically for people who want to train and prepare for all types of ocean scenairos, utilizing basic freediving and breath control techniques to increase fitness, confidence in the water, and to build tolerance to Carbon Dioxide.
During each weekly workout participants will practice drills that increase underwater efficiency, improve athletic performance, help manage hold downs, and implementing strategies to stay calm in and out of the water.
WEEKLY TRAINING SESSIONS
Our Wednesday night workouts are for people who have completed the Breath Control and Ocean Confidence Course, or for people with a strong swimming, freediving or breath hold background.
In order to be successful at a Wednesday night workout, you should be able to:
-swim 100 yards without stopping
-be able to equalize your ears at 13 feet
-be able to dive down to and stay on the bottom with a wetsuit on
-kick 25 yards underwater on a single breath
-complete 25 yard rock run repeats

NOT QUITE READY FOR THE ADVANCED WORKOUT YET?
Our Wednesday night workouts can be intimidating if you have never tried underwater training before. Friday night workouts are for you if you don’t have a strong swimming background, or have never done any kind of breath hold training before.
Friday night workouts will focus on:
-improving your breath hold
-basic swimming and treading water drills
-develpoing all of the skills needed to be successful in underwater training (ear clearing, diving down efficiently, kicking)
-building underwater confidence
-wipeout and stress management

Although the drills covered in these training sessions were designed with surfing and ocean sports in mind, you don’t have to be an experienced surfer or paddler (or even an athlete for that matter) to benefit from this type of training. These sessions benefit athletes of all levels and from all sports and can even help improve your everyday stress response if you are not necessarily an athlete.
Whether you are a proficient athlete looking to learn more about your body and to gain an edge, or someone looking to improve your overall fitness and confidence, these sessions are for you.
