WHAT TO EXPECT
Held in beautiful Emerald Bay on Catalina Island, our Catalina ocean sessions will focus on building confidence and skills underwater in a less controlled (but much more amazing) environment.
The day is split into two sessions that will build upon the techniques learned in the main WATERGROMS workshop.
During the day, we will cover:
- Ocean Safety
- Breathing Exercises
- Depth Practice (diving down comfortably in a wetsuit)
- Freediving/Snorkeling Skills
The day will be broken down into two sessions: a “shallow station,” close to the beach, where they can practice skills they learned in the pool. After a break to warm up and refuel, we will then move on to a “deep station,” or a snorkel adventure depending on the individual.
Both sessions will start with a brief talk on the beach and will be monitored for safety.
- Transportation to and from Two Harbors to Emerald Bay
- Snacks and shade on the beach at Emerald Bay
- Two water sessions with a break to eat and warm up
- Photos and Videos from the ocean session
*TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM TWO HARBORS TO THE MAINLAND IS NOT INCLUDED*

Open ocean sessions will be conducted only when conditions permit. Each session is limited to a 2:1 student to instructor ratio to ensure the safety of all those involved.
The safety of our participants as well as our instructors is our first priority; and because of the unpredictable nature of the ocean, we will run courses only on days where we are confident that it is safe for everyone involved.
Ocean sessions will begin in March 2022 and will continue through the fall. Due to the unpredictable nature of the ocean, the exact dates of each session are weather dependent.
We reserve the right to change course dates at any time if conditions do not permit.
If course dates must be changed due to weather or conditions, we will either issue a full refund, or reschedule your course date at no extra cost, whichever is your preference.
