Friday Photo: Grey Whale Near San Onofre, Southern California
Grey Whales have the longest know migration of any mammal. Every year they travel between 10,000 and 12,000 miles from their winter calving lagoons in Mexico to their summer feeding grounds in colder, arctic seas. They tend to migrate really close to shore which makes them fun to watch. My dad has this amazing ability to spot ocean wildlife in any conditions, and we ended up watching this one for quite a bit of time.
